Objectives

  • General Objective

    • Phase 1   (Qualitative Research). Define the OA early symptomatic disease
    • Phase 2   ESKOAERe register Study the natural history of OA from the earliest precocious (Non-radiographic) areas of studying risk factors and influence of therapeutic factors outcomes as long term illness
    • Phase 3   (Study ESKOAERe Promote, draw, coordinate and conduct an early international study report.
  • Specific Objectives

(Phase 2) from OA in Egypt Descriptive objectives of the demographic and clinical partners of Egyptian patients to
    • • Describe the clinical characteristics in patient population and the possible differences
    • • Assess the extent of the symptoms ,the functional damage and the co-morbidities and localizations, using the analysis of employments , drug consumption of the currently available chondroprotictives at our clinical daily practice,
  • Transversal objectives

    • To identify the socio-demographic, clinical and therapeutic characteristics that occur in the different OA phenotypes associated with pain, disability and damage.
  • Longitudinal objectives

    • objectives identify socio-demographic, In patients with early symptomatic knee OA (including lifestyles) that are associated with progression to identify socio-demographic, clinical and therapeutic features that disables and damage
  • Perspective study design

    • The study follows an observational design transvers Study and Recruitment ESKOAeRe
  • Recruitment centers

    • AROM members will be invited to participate as well as from members of the different Egyptian universities, Scientific Societies & the private clinics in the next 24 months.
  • inclusion and exclusion Criteria

for inclusion Early symptomatic OA , OA according to the criteria ACR Timing of evaluation and data , Variables Demographic variables History (risk factors and comorbidity) Localization OA Disease phase Laboratory WOMAC / FlHOA VAS WOMAC Knee outcome therapy at 0, 12, 24 months WOMAC 25% ascension at 12 and 24 months FlHOA at 0, 12, 24 months
  • Radiographs

    • Kellgren & Lawrence score at 0.12 24 months Knee
    • OARSI joint space narrowing score at 0, 12, 24 months , Interest factors (exposure variables) Risk factors OA, gender, familiarity, obesity, work activity, malalignment, co- morbidity, Clinical subset of OA ,Therapeutic sub-stretches
  • Analysis plan

    • Descriptive analyzes of the main socio-demographic characteristics, clinics of risk, clinometric and pharmacological treatment patterns will be presented as estimates of prevalence or average values .
  • Transversal analysis

    • the association between the main social characteristics demographic factors, risk factors, treatment patterns, baseline outcome variables will be analyzed with appropriate regression models, the outcome variable for both multivariate variants
    • The analysis will be stratified by phenotype of OA and for stage (early vs established) Longitudinal analysis influence of the main characteristics socio-demographic, of the tactics of risk and paternity of treatment on the evolution of early symptomatic OA in established OA will be assessed.
